Discusses the advantages of computer-assisted total knee arthroplasty, including improved component alignment on both plain radiographic and CT-based studies as well as the surgeon's ability to avoid instrumenting the medullary canal since it is entirely extramedullary. Most navigation systems currently on the market use an image-free bone-morphing model that the surgeon builds up during surgery.
